How people contribute — volunteering, unpaid care and domestic work, and defence service.
Nearly 5% of residents in 500 or more have served in the Defence Force, which is much higher than most similar areas. While unpaid care work is common here, the number of people volunteering has dropped over the last decade. This creates a community where many people support others at home, even as formal volunteering declines.
