How people contribute — volunteering, unpaid care and domestic work, and defence service.
Nearly a quarter of people in 50,000 to 99,999 provide unpaid childcare, making it the most common form of community contribution here. While many residents help out at home, volunteering has seen a sharp decline over the last decade. This area also sees a higher proportion of former Defence Force members than most similar places.
