More people volunteer here than in almost any other similar area, with Rural Balance seeing a far higher rate of community a work than the national figure. While 25.5% of residents give their time to others, this is a drop from 30.1% in 2011. The area also sees very high levels of unpaid domestic and care work.

A quarter of the population volunteers, which is far above the Australian figure of 14.1%. This is among the highest rates for similar areas, even though it fell 4.6 percentage points since 2011.
