Nearly one in five people in Brisbane - West volunteer their time, making it one of the most active areas for community work. This strong spirit of giving is matched by a high rate of unpaid care at home, with 30% of residents looking after children.

Volunteering is much more common here than in most other areas, with 19.5% of people pitching in. This is well above the national figure of 14.1%, although it has fallen by 5.6 percentage points since 2011.
