A much higher share of people volunteer in the Mid West than in most other areas. While 17.7% of residents give their time to others, this is well above the national figure of 14.1%. However, the local rate of volunteering has dropped by 4.6 percentage points since 2016.

About 17.7% of the population are volunteers, which is a little above the Western Australian rate of 15.9%. Despite this high standing, the number of people volunteering has fallen since the last census.

Fewer people in the Mid West provide unpaid care for children compared to most areas, with 24.4% doing so. Unpaid care for others is also much lower than most areas at 10.5%, while those doing 15 or more hours of housework sit around the middle for its level at 21.5%.
