About 17.7% of the population are volunteers, which is a little above the Western Australian rate of 15.9%. Despite this high standing, the number of people volunteering has fallen since the last census.

Caring for others and unpaid domestic work.

Fewer people in the Mid West provide unpaid care for children compared to most areas, with 24.4% doing so. Unpaid care for others is also much lower than most areas at 10.5%, while those doing 15 or more hours of housework sit around the middle for its level at 21.5%.
