Nearly one in five people in East Side volunteer their time, making it an area where community contribution is much more common than in most other places. While this is well above the national figure of 14.1%, the number of volunteers has fallen slightly since 2011. This creates a strong foundation of local support and shared activity across the neighbourhood.
