More than a quarter of people in postcode 7005 use a language other than English at home, making it a linguistically diverse area. This diversity is much higher than in most other parts of the state, with 28% of residents speaking a non-English language.
English and the largest community languages.
Mandarin is the most common non-English language at 11.7%, followed by Cantonese and Greek. While 2.3% of people speak little or no English—a figure a little above the Tasmanian average—this has fallen slightly since 2016.
