A much higher share of people were born overseas in postcode 2021 than in most other areas. About 31.1% of the population grew up outside Australia, which is well above the national figure. This diversity is reflected in a mix of strong English and Australian ancestral roots alongside significant Irish and Scottish heritage.

The ancestries people most identify with.
English ancestry is the most common at 39.5%, followed by Australian (26.7%) and Irish (16.5%). Scottish (12.6%) and Italian (4.8%) roots also make up a notable part of the community.
Country of birth
Australia and the largest overseas communities.
The 31.1% of residents born overseas is a little above the New South Wales figure and barely changed from 2011. While 64.8% were born in Australia, the most common overseas birthplaces are England (7.6%) and New Zealand (3.4%).
