Nearly half of all residents in postcode 2018 speak a language other than English at home, placing it among the most linguistically diverse areas at this level. While this figure fell from 55.4% in 2011, the area remains far more multilingual than the rest of Australia.

About 48% of people use another language at home, which is far above the national figure of 22.3%. English is the most common language at 46.2%, followed by Mandarin at 8.7%, Greek at 6.3%, Cantonese at 2.9%, and Arabic at 1.5%. This diversity is reflected in the 7.3% of people who speak little or no English, a figure that is well above the Australian average.
