A rise of 8.9 percentage points since 2011 shows that postcode 2000 is becoming increasingly international. Now, 70.4% of people here were born overseas, making it one of the most globally diverse areas in the region. This shift is driven largely by a strong Chinese presence in both birth and ancestry.

Chinese ancestry is the most common here at 30.8%, followed by English at 13.6%, Australian at 7.1%, Irish at 4.2% and Indian at 3.2%.

Australia and the largest overseas communities.
The proportion of overseas-born residents is far above the national figure of 27.7% and the state figure of 29.3%. Only 22.3% of people were born in Australia, while the most common overseas birthplaces are China at 12.7% and India at 2.9%.
