Much higher rates of volunteering and unpaid care than most similar areas mark the Copper Coast. While 20% of residents volunteer, those who provide unpaid care and housework are notably more common here than in the rest of the state.

One in five people volunteer in the Copper Coast, which is well above the 14.1% national figure. However, this has fallen since 2011, when 26.1% of the community volunteered.

Unpaid care is common, with 13.6% of people providing it and 25.3% doing over 15 hours of housework weekly, both of which are much higher than most areas. This stands in contrast to child care, as the 20.3% of people caring for children unpaid is well below the national figure.
