Just 14.5% of people in Eden-Monaro were born overseas, which is far below the national figure. This makes the area much less diverse in birthplace than most other parts of the country. Most residents here trace their roots back to the British Isles or Australia.

Australian and English ancestries are the most common, each claimed by around 40% of the population. Irish and Scottish roots are also prominent, accounting for 12.5% and 11.1% respectively.
