Capella Sapphire
Capella and Sapphire are two Queensland towns with very different profiles. Capella is a younger area where the typical resident is 32 and children under 15 make up 26.1% of the population. It is also much wealthier, with a typical household income of $1,838 and 18.1% of homes earning over $3,000 a week. In contrast, Sapphire is far older, with a typical age of 59 and 36.9% of residents aged 65 or over. Income is much lower there, with a typical household earning $579 a week and 49.4% of homes earning under $650.
Both towns share a similar housing style, as almost everyone in both places lives in a separate house. They also have a similar proportion of people with a bachelor's degree or higher. However, the gap between them has shifted significantly since 2011. Capella has become much younger and wealthier than Sapphire, while the share of people born overseas has risen far more in Sapphire. This is consistent with a shift in the local population and economy over the last decade.
