Cooroy Eumundi
Cooroy and Eumundi are neighbouring Queensland areas with very different profiles. Cooroy is more developed for pedestrians, with far more homes within walking distance of parks, schools and health services, and it has a much older population, with seniors making up 27.6% of residents. Eumundi is more affluent and has a younger feel; it has a far higher share of adults with bachelor degrees (24.6% compared to 13.2% in Cooroy) and a typical weekly household income that is well higher at $1,721.
The two areas have drifted further apart since 2011 in several key ways. The gap in the number of seniors has widened, and Eumundi has seen a much sharper increase in the share of people with no religion and those with university degrees. Despite these shifts, they remain alike in other ways, such as having very similar shares of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander residents and nearly identical typical weekly rents.
