Hill Mulgrave
Hill and Mulgrave are two Queensland areas with very different demographic profiles. Hill is an older community where the typical resident is 46 and 23.6% of people are aged 65 or over. It is also a place where home ownership is more common, with 42.2% of homes owned outright. In contrast, Mulgrave is much younger, with a typical age of 35 and only 13.4% of residents aged 65 or over. Mulgrave has more larger homes and better access to public transport, while Hill has a higher number of schools per child and more people working in agriculture.
The age gap between the two has widened significantly since 2011, moving from no difference to an 11-year gap today. Despite this, they share several similarities, such as having almost identical rates of people working from home and a similar share of residents with a bachelor degree or higher. Both areas also have a higher proportion of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people than the national figure, though this is more pronounced in Mulgrave at 16.5%.
