Burrar Islet vs Poruma Island

Poruma Island and Burrar Islet are two nearby locations in the Torres Strait, though they differ greatly in population. Poruma Island has 164 residents, including 154 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, while Burrar Islet is largely non-residential with no residents. Poruma Island also has a more developed layout, with 62 street intersections per square kilometre compared to none on Burrar Islet.

Both places share a lack of local infrastructure, as neither area has a school or any public transport stops within 3 km. This absence of basic services is a common trait for both locations, despite the difference in their resident counts.
