Yass Surrounds vs Macnamara

Yass Surrounds and Macnamara are very different types of places. Yass Surrounds is a populated area with 13,346 people, 2,079 businesses and 23 schools. In contrast, Macnamara is largely non-residential with a population of just 40 and no businesses. Because of this, Yass Surrounds has far more essential services within a 15-minute walk, such as groceries (19%) and schools (23.6%), while Macnamara has none of these. However, Macnamara is far more focused on green space, with 90.1% of homes within a short walk of a park compared to 26% in Yass Surrounds.

Both areas share a very similar climate, with almost identical average rainfall and temperatures. They also have a similar terrain slope and roughly the same share of homes within a 10-minute walk of public transport. Despite these similarities in the landscape, they differ in how people get around; while both are car-dependent, Macnamara has a slightly higher walkability score and far more street intersections per square kilometre.
