East Arnhem Roper Gulf
East Arnhem and Roper Gulf are both remote Northern Territory regions with very high First Nations populations, though East Arnhem is far more culturally distinct. About 90% of East Arnhem residents are Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander, compared to 75% in Roper Gulf. This is reflected in language and literacy; 96% of East Arnhem residents speak a First Nations language and 89% use a language other than English at home, which is far higher than the figures in Roper Gulf.
