Lockyer Valley Logan
Logan and Lockyer Valley are two different types of Queensland communities. Logan is a much more urbanised area where 27.9% of people were born overseas and 18.1% use another language at home. It is also more walkable, with a score of 4.7 (somewhat walkable), and has a higher share of renters at 34.6%. In contrast, Lockyer Valley is more car-dependent, with a walkability score of 1.8. It has a higher share of people who own their homes outright (33.1%) and a much higher proportion of recent overseas arrivals at 21.9%.
Both areas sit near the national figure for overall advantage. They also share very similar proportions of First Nations people and a similar number of people per home. These commonalities exist alongside growing gaps in other areas; for example, the difference in the share of households that rent has widened since 2011. While Logan has far more public transport stops and departures, the walk to the nearest stop is much longer in Lockyer Valley.
