Riverina - Orange vs South-Eastern NSW

Riverina - Orange and South-Eastern NSW are two large regions in New South Wales with distinct layouts. Riverina - Orange has a much larger First Nations population at 32,009 people, compared to 17,504 in South-Eastern NSW. It also has better local access for families, with 57.5% of homes within a 15-minute walk of a school, which is far higher than the 41.2% in South-Eastern NSW. In contrast, South-Eastern NSW has more homes within a 10-minute walk of public transport (65.2% versus 55.4%).

Both regions see similar outcomes for First Nations people, as a similar share of residents in both areas speak a First Nations language (about 3.7%). The two areas also have very similar walkability scores, both sitting around 4.0. While South-Eastern NSW has a higher rate of First Nations Year 12 completion at 33.0%, this remains well below the national figure.
