Pine Creek vs Rockhole

Pine Creek and Rockhole are two small Northern Territory locations with very different layouts. Pine Creek is mostly car-dependent but has much better access to services, with 87% of homes within a 15-minute walk of a school and health services. In contrast, Rockhole is car-dependent and has no homes within walking distance of these amenities. Rockhole has a much stronger presence of First Nations languages, spoken by 93.1% of residents, compared to 60.6% in Pine Creek.

Both areas have a similar number of First Nations people and an identical typical age of 23 for this group. The gap in typical First Nations personal income is narrowing, though it remains well higher in Pine Creek at $288 compared to $229 in Rockhole.
