Dauan Island vs Iama (Yam) Island

Dauan Island and Iama (Yam) Island are two remote communities in Queensland. Iama (Yam) Island has a far larger First Nations population, with 240 people compared to 117 on Dauan Island. The two areas differ in age and income; the typical First Nations resident on Dauan Island is 21 and earns a typical personal income of $541, while on Iama (Yam) Island they are noticeably older at 27 and earn a much lower $346. Iama (Yam) Island also has a far higher rate of First Nations Year 12 completion at 60.7%, compared to 49.3% on Dauan Island.
