Robina vs Surfers Paradise

Robina and Surfers Paradise are neighbouring areas on the Gold Coast with very different layouts. Robina is far more convenient for families, with 74.3% of homes within a 15-minute walk of a school compared to just 20.2% in Surfers Paradise. However, Surfers Paradise is much better for daily errands, with a far higher share of homes within a 15-minute walk of groceries (95.6% versus 73.0%) and health services (82.3% versus 65.2%).

Both areas are very walkable, though the gap in overall walkability has widened over time. They also share similar outcomes for First Nations residents, with typical personal incomes and unemployment rates that are almost identical. Robina has a larger First Nations population, and these residents generally have higher incomes and higher Year 12 completion rates than those in Surfers Paradise.
