Southern Grampians vs Wimmera

Southern Grampians and Wimmera are two large regional areas in Victoria. They differ most in their First Nations populations; Wimmera has a far larger number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (838 compared to 389), and this group is far older in Wimmera, with a typical age of 28 compared to just 20 in Southern Grampians. This younger age profile in Southern Grampians is consistent with a well higher Year 12 completion rate of 35.2% and a First Nations unemployment rate of 7.7%, which is much lower than the 13.5% seen in Wimmera.

Both areas have tracked similarly since 2011, maintaining a similar feel and layout. They are both considered somewhat walkable and share a nearly identical level of street connectivity. Daily life is similar in both, as they have almost the same number of amenity types within a 15-minute walk and First Nations household incomes are nearly the same ($1,105 in Southern Grampians and $1,059 in Wimmera).
