Canterbury vs Strathfield

Canterbury and Strathfield are neighbouring areas in Sydney with very different levels of local access. In Canterbury, almost every home is within a 15-minute walk of a school (98.9%), groceries (95.7%) and health services (87.1%), while Strathfield has lower shares for these services. Canterbury also has a far larger First Nations population, with 1,085 people compared to 199 in Strathfield, and a higher share of people who speak a First Nations language (10.8% versus 6.5%).

Both areas have remained very similar in their physical layout since 2011. They are both very walkable, with a similar number of amenity types within a short walk and identical access to parks. While their general terrain and street connectivity are almost the same, they differ in what is nearby; Canterbury has a much higher share of public transport stops, while Strathfield has more parks.
