Minto vs Ruse

Minto and Ruse are neighbouring areas in New South Wales with very different profiles for their First Nations residents. In Ruse, First Nations household income is far higher at $2,169, while in Minto it is $1,199. This gap extends to education, with Year 12 completion far higher in Ruse at 41.4% compared to 25.8% in Minto. Ruse is also more walkable, with 78.1% of homes having a 15-minute-city walkshed, compared to 52.6% in Minto.

Daily life in both areas is similar in that they are both somewhat walkable and have First Nations populations with the same typical age of 22. They also share a similar terrain slope and almost no homes within a 15-minute walk of health services. While Minto has a far larger number of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (485 compared to 289 in Ruse), both areas have most of their homes within a short walk of public transport and parks.
