Coober Pedy - Umoona vs Eyre

Coober Pedy - Umoona and Eyre are two distinct South Australian areas with very different profiles for First Nations people. In Eyre, typical First Nations household incomes are $1,637, while in Coober Pedy - Umoona they are far lower at $825. This gap is seen in employment and education too; First Nations unemployment is far higher in Coober Pedy - Umoona at 26.2% compared to 12.7% in Eyre, and Year 12 completion is well higher in Eyre at 28.9%.

Both areas have tracked similarly since 2011, remaining largely car-dependent with no homes within a 10 minute walk of public transport. They also share a similar proportion of people who speak a First Nations language, at about 19%. While both are mostly car-dependent, Coober Pedy - Umoona is a bit more walkable, with far more homes within a 15 minute walk of health services (62.9% compared to 27.7% in Eyre).
