Caloundra vs Redcliffe

Caloundra and Redcliffe are both coastal Queensland hubs, but they differ greatly in how people get around. Redcliffe is very walkable, with 93.6% of homes in a 15-minute-city walkshed and 93.9% within a 10-minute walk of public transport. Caloundra is somewhat walkable, with much lower shares of homes near groceries (58.2%) and schools (54.3%). This is reflected in the street layout, where Redcliffe has far more intersections per square kilometre (197) than Caloundra (19).

Both areas see much higher rates of Year 12 completion among First Nations residents than the national figure. In Caloundra, First Nations households have a typical income of $1,833, which is well higher than the $1,445 seen in Redcliffe. This higher income in Caloundra is consistent with a much lower unemployment rate for First Nations people (7.8%) compared to Redcliffe (12.3%).
