Great Lakes vs Taree

Great Lakes and Taree are two regional areas in New South Wales, but they differ in how easy it is to get around without a car. Great Lakes is somewhat walkable, with 53.8% of homes within a 15-minute walk of groceries and 40.1% near health services. Taree is mostly car-dependent, and far fewer homes are within walking distance of health services (22.1%) or groceries (42.3%). Taree also has a far larger Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population, with 4,347 people compared to 2,267 in Great Lakes.

Both areas share very similar income levels for First Nations households, with typical weekly incomes around $1,200. They also have nearly identical terrain and street layouts. While Great Lakes has a higher share of homes near parks and public transport, the two areas have remained largely alike in their basic physical structure and income patterns.
