Nearly 45% of people in 5,000 to 9,999 claim English ancestry, making it a very common heritage here. This area has a strong connection to British and Australian roots, while its overseas-born population has grown slightly over the last decade.

English and Australian are the most common ancestries, making up 44.4% and 38.9% of the population. Scottish (9.8%) and Irish (9.5%) are also frequent, followed by Italian at 4.2%.

Australia and the largest overseas communities.
People born overseas make up 18.2% of the population, which is higher than most similar areas but well below the national figure of 27.7%. This proportion rose by 2.3 points since 2011. Most residents were born in Australia (73.4%), followed by England (5.9%) and New Zealand (2.5%).
