Only 10.5% of people in 499 or less were born overseas, a figure far below the national average. This sparsely populated area is overwhelmingly Australian-born, with the vast majority of residents claiming English or Australian ancestry.

English and Australian ancestries are most common here, making up 41.8% and 40.8% of the population respectively. Irish and Scottish roots also feature prominently at 12.8% and 11.9%.
