A growing number of people from different backgrounds live in Major Urban, where one in five residents was born overseas. This international mix is most visible in the ancestry data, with English and Australian roots remaining the most common for the community.

English ancestry is the most frequent at 41.5%, followed by Australian at 36.2%, Irish at 10.6%, Scottish at 9.3% and Chinese at 4.4%.
