Very little has changed in the ancestral makeup of The Lagoon over the last decade. It remains a community with deep colonial roots, where nearly half the population identifies as Australian by descent.

Australian and English ancestries are the most common, making up 47% and 41% of the area respectively. Irish and Scottish roots are also prominent, accounting for 13.8% and 12.3% of residents.
