A growing number of overseas-born residents has shaped the Eastern Suburbs - South, where the proportion of people born abroad rose to 39.6% in 2021. This makes the area far more diverse than the rest of the state and the nation. English and Australian ancestries remain the most common, but Chinese roots are also widely represented.
