More than one in four people in East Side were born overseas, adding an international layer to the local community. This mix of backgrounds is reflected in a population where English, Australian, and Irish are the most common ancestries.

English ancestry is the most common at 28.6%, followed by Australian at 25.8% and Irish at 10.4%. Scottish and German roots are also represented at 8.9% and 5.5% respectively.
