A growing number of overseas-born residents now live in Ascot, with the share rising to 24.4% since 2011. The area remains strongly rooted in British and Irish heritage, while the majority of people were born in Australia.

English ancestry is the most common at 39.7%, followed by Australian at 29.2% and Irish at 16.5%. Scottish and German roots are also present in 12.9% and 5.7% of residents.

About 24.4% of people were born overseas, which is a little above the Queensland figure and rose 2.2 percentage points since 2011. This is well below the national figure of 27.7%, with most residents born in Australia (70.7%) or New Zealand (3.9%).
