A small rise in the overseas-born population has seen the share of people born outside Australia in Eden climb to 11.6%. While the community is becoming slightly more diverse, it remains far less multicultural than the rest of the state. English and Australian ancestries dominate the local landscape.

English ancestry is the most common at 42.2%, followed by Australian at 36.5%. Irish, Scottish and German roots also make up a significant part of the local family history.

Only 11.6% of residents were born overseas, a figure far below the New South Wales average of 29.3%. This proportion rose slightly from 10.5% in 2011, with most overseas-born locals coming from England, New Zealand and the Philippines.
