A far higher share of people were born overseas in postcode 2151 than in the rest of the state. Nearly 44.3% of residents were born outside Australia, making it one of the most diverse areas for birthplace at this level. This international makeup is reflected in a strong mix of English, Australian, Chinese and Indian ancestry.

English and Australian ancestries are the most common at 18.8% and 18.6% respectively. Chinese ancestry is also prominent at 15.8%, followed by Indian (7.6%) and Irish (6.4%) roots.
