# Community Participation — Norway

How people contribute — volunteering, unpaid care and domestic work, and defence service.

Area: Norway (Suburb / Locality)

Much lower levels of unpaid care and volunteering define Norway compared to similar areas. While a striking 38.6% of people spend 15 or more hours a week on housework, other forms of community contribution are quite low.

Only 12.3% of residents volunteer, which is much lower than most similar areas and a little below the Australian figure of 14.1%.

A very high 38.6% of people do 15 or more hours of unpaid housework, far above the national figure of 20.7%. In contrast, no one here provides unpaid childcare, and those providing other unpaid care are much fewer than in most areas.

No one in Norway has served in the Defence Force, which is lower than most areas and a little below the New South Wales average of 2.3%.
