Area: Mornington Peninsula (Council (LGA))

Well below the national figures for school and university completion, Mornington Peninsula is catching up as more people gain higher qualifications. This shift is reflected in a growing number of residents holding a range of professional and trade certificates.

Year 12 completion rose by 10 points since 2011 to reach 53.9%. This is much higher than most similar areas, though it remains well below the Victorian rate of 61.8%.

Mornington Peninsula has a large network of 50 schools serving 24,710 students. While these schools are much larger and have higher advantage scores than most areas, there are much fewer schools per 1,000 children than in other similar regions.

The most common fields of study are management and commerce at 16.5%, followed by engineering and related fields at 12.9%. Health and society and culture also make up a large part of the local qualifications.
