The typical First Nations resident is 25 years old. This is a little younger than the Northern Territory figure of 26, but a little older than the national figure of 24.

School completion is low, with only 15.6% of First Nations residents finishing Year 12. This is well below the Northern Territory's 23.2% and far below the Australian average of 37.0%.

Joblessness is a major issue here, as the First Nations unemployment rate is 39.5%. This is far above the Northern Territory rate of 20.8% and the national figure of 12.3%.

Household income for First Nations residents is $927, which is well below the territory figure of $1,318. Typical personal income is $346, which is about the same as the Northern Territory's $323 but well below the national figure of $540.

Language is strongly preserved in the area, with 63.1% of First Nations people speaking a traditional language. This is a little above the Northern Territory's 60.1% and far above the Australian figure of 12.3%.
